AMAATRA ARTelier

How your discarded scraps find new life at our free-thinking atelier space. Here, every offcut damaged garment holds potential to teach a young underprivileged woman a skill that could change her life. In return, you are provided with a responsible and creative way to repurpose your returned, unsold stock and out-of-season apparel and textile excesses.

AMAATRA ART ATELIER

My inspiration for starting this art atelier is my mom. For the past 30 years, she (fondly called ´Amma´ by those around her), along with the undying support from my dad, has been guiding, teaching, counselling and uplifting young underprivileged girls and women in our neighborhood in Hyderabad, India.

It all started when she noticed that there were these young girls, who were basically ignored by society and sometimes even by their own families, with no basic education or purpose in their lives. They were forced to take up menial tasks like trash collecting, street cleaning, etc. just to make ends meet.
My mom started calling them over to our house and started teaching them what she had been proficiently doing all her life: Sewing.

Thus, was formed, this unofficial atelier, which soon became a revolving door of eager young and older women seeking guidance and whatever knowledge they could grasp.

Our lovingly called Amma´s Artelier transforms your unused, damaged, out-of-season, textile excess and overstock rags into high fashion apparel and accessories to create a kaleidoscope of artistry in designs and timeless products. These can range from handbags, vests, wrap skirts, scrunchies, make-up kits, and so much more.

Our premise is simple. Your every purchase directly supports the future of that one woman who produced it.

We will jointly co-create an exclusive package with you to conduct the following win-win-win situations:

STEP 1:

You will be provided with the nearest location where you can ship your textile excesses.

STEP 2:

We will disassemble, repurpose and upcycle your textile and clothing excesses and create branded products of your choosing for your use.

STEP 3:

• You can purchase back from us branded new products of your choosing created exclusively for your customers.
• You can purchase back from us a Corporate Gift / Charity package where you can offer the newly created products to the individuals / entity of your choosing.
